OAM for Clem Furphy

Clem FurphyCrosslight would like to acknowledge the achievements of Clem Furphy, who was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in this year’s Australia Day Honours list.

Mr Furphy was recognised for more than 30 years of service to health care and to the Goulburn Valley community.

He is an active Uniting Church member and is the current chair of Waranga Congregations Church Council.

Mr Furphy was the director of Goulburn Valley Health from 1996 to 2001 and was chair of the board from 2001 to 2011. During that time period, he also served as the director and deputy chair of the Victorian Healthcare Association.

Under Mr Furphy’s leadership, significant health benefits were delivered to local and regional communities.

Besides his contributions to health care, Mr Furphy is also heavily involved in social and musical activities in his local area.

He is the President of the Corop Community Action Group, which organises social events, fundraisers and working bees to enhance the vibrancy of the community.
