Rev Ric Holland awarded

18_Ric-HollandUniting Church minister and former synod staff member Rev Ric Holland (pictured) was recently awarded the St Michael’s Medallion in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the community as CEO of Melbourne City Mission.

On receiving the award, Mr Holland said he felt honoured and privileged to accept it on behalf of Melbourne City Mission – Melbourne’s oldest charity, which works with some of Melbourne and Victoria’s most vulnerable individuals, families and communities.

The charity is an integral part of the Melbourne community, providing services in the areas of homelessness, education, disability, and palliative and aged care.

“I was delighted to receive the St Michael’s Medallion on behalf of Melbourne City Mission. It sits pride of place in my office as a reminder of what we do, day in and day out, to bring people together and build resilience in the community,” Mr Holland said.

“We work to give people a hand up, seeing the person and not just the barrier or issue that they face.  I consider it a real honour to be given this recognition of our vital work by St Michael’s, and I am very thankful to them for it.”
