2KEN-NICOL-1Cranbourne Uniting Church’s monthly Folk Uniting Nights (FUN) is set to host internationally renowned guitar virtuoso Ken Nicol (ex-Steeleye Span) on Sunday 4 May.

The church’s community concerts usually run on the third Saturday of each month at 7.30pm, but the upcoming concert was organised to fit in with Ken Nicol’s busy touring schedule.

Organisers said the church’s regular music nights utilise the performing arts as a means to engage with the wider community, encouraging all to share their talents in music, dance, poetry and other performing arts.

Local musician and event organiser Jose Garcia said the community was thrilled to have garnered the support of such renowned professional musicians.

“It is not often that high-calibre international touring artists stop over in Cranbourne to entertain,” Mr Garcia said.

“It is even rarer when they donate some of their income towards the church. I encourage those who like music and who support the church’s mission to attend this special night.”

The concert will feature other local acts as well as a set from British singer/songwriter Dominic Finley. Mr Finely is a former member of the ’80s British rock band Cutting Crew known for their number one hit, ‘I just died in your arms’. He has released several solo albums and is an accomplished solo performer.

The concert will be held at 7 pm, Sunday 4 May, at 41 Lesdon Avenue, Cranbourne. For more information visit www.cranbournefolkuniting.org.
