More than 60 people travelled from Ballarat, Maryborough, Avoca, Moonambel and surrounding districts to celebrate the centenary of the Moonambel Uniting Church in April.
Mrs Coralie Gee (nee Castleman) cut the birthday cake made by local baker Sam Beavis. In the bottom corners of the cake, Mr Beavis added the initials of the late John Streeter and Doug Streeter, brothers who both died recently. John was an integral part of the
Moonambel Uniting Church after the closure of the Natte Yallock Uniting Church. He was an accredited lay preacher who, along with Jill Hunter, led the services at Moonambel UC.
Photographs, books and Sunday school prizes formed part of an historic display, along with a Rochester kerosene lamp that was supplied for the new church in 1913.
