Children from throughout the country celebrated NAIDOC week last month at the National Aboriginal and Islander Youth Gathering (NAIYG) in Townsville. NAIDOC week celebrated its 53rd year in July. NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. As well as recognising the achievements of Indigenous people in a variety of fields, NAIDOC encourages people from all walks of life and cultures to take part. Turn to page 5 for a full report.
