UnitingCare Harrison in Knox has farewelled former-CEO Roger Gough (pictured). For more than 20 years, Mr Gough has overseen the development of Harrison from an agency of 10 staff and 50 clients, to 85 staff and 200 volunteers who have helped 5000 clients this year.
Using the skills learned through a successful corporate management career, Mr Gough successfully steered Harrison from a reactive agency to one with more of an early interventionist approach. The success of this approach was recognised in 2004 when Mr Gough was runner up in Equity Trustees National CEO Innovation of the Year Award for the Uniting Families Program.
“I was motivated by seeing the incredible need in the community,” Mr Gough said. “All of a sudden my profit line focus shifted from finance to positive human outcomes. People are what count not money. I am so glad I had the opportunity to serve, challenging as it is, and use my corporate skills to make a real difference in the lives of those in need.”
