Seeing through echoes

Sometimes the technology our own brain and body produces can be as brilliant as anything developed by a team of Apple or Microsoft developers.

Meet Christian, a seven-year-old student at Insight Education Centre for the Blind and Vision Impaired in Berwick, Victoria.

Christian uses a technique called echo-location – he clicks his tongue which then produces echoes to create a mental image of his surrounds.

Henrietta Cook, Education Reporter at The Age introduces us to Christian who explains how he is mastering echo-location. Don’t miss watching his great skateboarding skills as well.

Daniel Kish explains echo-location in greater detail in this video.
