Margaret Hammon was recently recognised for 30 years of dedication to the KUCA (Kids of the Uniting Church in Australia) club.
A member of the church for 60 years, Ms Hammon helped to establish KUCA at Box Hill UC in 1983.

She continued to be involved until it was decided to finish the club at Christmas last year.

Ms Hammon’s background in teaching meant that she was able to organise children’s programs in what was then a new initiative of the church – a club to introduce children to a faith community. Throughout the years she led groups in a variety of activities, including the annual camps at Queenscliff.

Although KUCA has finished, Ms Hammon is still active in her local church.

She has been the coordinator of the music together program, teacher of a fortnightly conversation English program and each fortnight convenes a craft group that provides up to 40 boxes for Samaritan’s Purse to send to children overseas at Christmas.
