Uniting AgeWell will be running an expo at its Strathdon facility in Forest Hill this month. Event organiser Madeline McGrath said the purpose of the event is to help people as they “make their way through the aged-care maze”.
The expo will feature a series of industry experts who will offer advice and answer questions. Ms McGrath explained that the transition into care can often be a confusing time for elderly people and their carers.
“The expo will be about relationship building,” Ms McGrath said. “Strathdon is putting the format together in response to the many queries they get from the families of residents.”
“It is aimed at families and carers as well as those aged between 65 and 75, which is the group that is planning ahead.
“We have invited people to talk about the financial, the spiritual, the physical and emotional approach together on the journey as we age well.”
Representatives from a number of agencies will speak on topics such as Wills and Powers of Attorney, advanced care planning and rights of the elderly. Organisations including the Public Advocate office, Carers Victoria and U3A will set up information booths to provide further advice throughout the expo.
The Uniting AgeWell expo will be held on 8 May from 3 pm to 9 pm. For more information contact: Ph: 9845 3111 or E:mmcgrath@unitingagewell.org
