The Launceston North Uniting Church flung its doors wide open in late February to celebrate the completion of the first stage of its outdoor community area and play park.
Members of the church and wider community gathered over a meal and great conversation to launch the new space.
The barbecue was fired up for the first time since the zone was finished and attendees enjoyed many fine delights from kitchens throughout the community as well as those from the local butchery.
Minister Rev Amanda Nicholas said at the beginning of last year the church began looking at how it could redefine its outdoor spaces in line with the needs of its own congregation and the broader community.
“This first step has been realised in just on 12 months but there is much yet to be achieved,” Ms Nicholas said.
“Money is still needed to complete the play park, but there is great excitement about the possibilities for the future.
“Very quickly this space has become a much loved zone for our youth and messy church communities. Our prayer is that this place will become a haven and refuge for all those needing a spot to sit and play.”
